A useful program—with firm limits.
The DABS Special Order Program helps consumers request alcohol products that the state does not currently stock or list. DABS provides the program without an additional program fee, but the product, quantity, shipping and vendor terms still determine the final cost.

Check these points before applying
- Search the Product Locator first to make sure the item is not already available.
- Rare, high-demand and allocated products cannot be obtained through the Special Order Program.
- Beer below 5.1% ABV cannot be fulfilled by DABS through this program.
- Orders must be placed in full cases; partial-case orders are not accepted.
- Case size is set by the producer and can vary.
- Old vintages and highly allocated items are generally not obtainable.
- The product must be currently available at wholesale from the producer or an authorized U.S. distributor or importer.
- Barrel orders require supplier preapproval and may not be available to every consumer.
Information to gather
DABS asks for:
- Your name and contact information
- Desired pickup store
- Product name
- Bottle size
- Vintage, when applicable
- Importer or distributor shown on the back label
Complete product information can make it easier for DABS to identify and source the correct item.
How the process works
- Create or sign in to a public Special Orders account.
- Create an order and select the pickup store.
- Add an item from the special-order catalog, a prior order or as a new product.
- Enter quantity in cases, not individual bottles.
- Submit the request.
- Wait while DABS determines vendor availability and pricing.
- Review and confirm the quoted item, quantity and price in your account.
- Monitor the order until it reaches the selected store.
- Pick it up within the required window.
Once an item reaches “Order sent to Vendor,” changes generally require contacting the DABS purchasing team.
Timing and pickup
DABS says delivery is typically about 45 days after it receives a price quote, not necessarily 45 days from the initial request. New or difficult-to-identify products can take longer. Once the order arrives, the customer has 14 business days to pick it up.
Vendor prices can change between confirmation and arrival. DABS also describes an expedited air-freight option at additional cost; follow the current instructions on the official page if that is important to you.
When special ordering makes sense
The program is best suited to a currently produced bottle that has authorized U.S. distribution but is not ordinarily stocked in Utah—and when you are comfortable purchasing the producer-defined case quantity.
It is not a shortcut to Pappy, limited annual releases or other allocated products.
