Dented Brick Distillery operates in South Salt Lake with a portfolio spanning whiskey, gin, vodka, rum and tequila. The distillery says its identity and production philosophy begin with water drawn from an artesian well on the property.

That water originates as Rocky Mountain snowmelt and reaches the well after being naturally filtered through the surrounding ground. Dented Brick identifies it as an important foundation for the spirits produced at the distillery.

The company is celebrating ten years in 2026, reflecting its growth from a local distillery into a producer with a broad range of spirits and distribution beyond Utah.

The history behind the property

According to Dented Brick, the property was once owned by Hugh Moon, an early Utah distiller who produced and sold whiskey in Salt Lake City during the 1850s. The distillery connects that history to the modern use of the land and honors Moon through its Hugh Moon Moonshine expression.

The Dented Brick name also comes from the property’s history. The company says bullet-dented bricks recovered from an earlier building on the site were incorporated into the distillery’s construction. Those bricks became both the inspiration for the name and a physical connection to the property’s past.

Dented Brick’s current lineup reaches across several spirits categories. Its whiskey range includes straight rye, bottled-in-bond rye, single-barrel releases and multiple cask-finished expressions.
